Until now it has been the working assumption (not previously indicated by Irelandisfull.com) that the majority of the Irish PPSN’s issued were accounted for by births.
The latest PPSN data confirms this assumption and while implications of this are rather incredible, here is a quick breakout of the numbers in the context of the 2023 Jan-Aug PPSN’s and what it looks like when you remove the “newborns”.

Below is the demographic breakdown, the “newborns” are counted in the 0-14 years age group. This accounts for 94% of the Irish 0-14 years figure, but only 1.5% of the Non-Irish 0-14 years grouping.
